SPACE to flourish project
2023/24 – Cohort 1
In 2023, Royal Greenwich was invited to take part in the “SPACE to Flourish” Project, led by Early Education and funded by The Mercers’ Company, trustee to the Charity of Sir Richard Whittington. This exciting project will be developed over four years and aims to improve children’s school readiness through a focus on supporting creativity and the arts.
The project is being delivered in Royal Greenwich and Wandsworth.
In summer 2023, we were asked to identify a small group of schools with the highest levels of deprivation to apply to take part. Four were selected by Early Education to be the first cohort. Over the year they took part in professional development days, led by Debi Keyte-Hartland and Cathy Gunning.
Our participating schools have taken their learning back into their own classrooms and used their new pedagogical thinking to develop children’s creative learning opportunities.
2024/25 – Cohort 2
A further seven successful applicants for Cohort 2 in 2024/25 increased the number of schools involved to eleven.
Early Education plans to extend recruitment for Cohort 3 in Summer 2025.
