Educate Against Racism
@GreenwichEAR
Our Mission
Educate Against Racism is a collaborative initiative, founded in 2020, driven by a shared commitment to confront and dismantle racial inequities within schools and throughout our community. Our mission is to embed racial equality, diversity, and inclusion into every aspect of our educational settings, ensuring they are integral to our schools' values and practices.
Who We Are
Since its inception, Educate Against Racism has grown to include over 30 senior leaders representing diverse educational settings across the borough, from nursery through post-16 and specialist provisions. Together, we form a powerful network dedicated to creating a more inclusive and equitable educational experience for all.
Since 2023, we also offer an EAR curriculum network. This is a group of leaders who meet termly to look at racial diversity and representation across the curriculum.
Our Approach
At the start of each academic year, we collectively identify local priorities focused on meaningful change. Our partnership meets each half-term to review our progress and impact. These meetings are also a space for us to discuss current affairs, exchange insights, and share experiences, strengthening our collective response to racial inequity.
Our Impact
Our work has positively impacted children, staff, and the broader community. By fostering an environment of inclusivity and understanding, we aim to build a more equitable future for our schools and communities.
Hemisphere project
Greenwich became the first founding partner of Hemisphere in May 2024.
The 2024-5 GLP funded development initiative is to offer Hemisphere Racial Literacy Training to every member of staff in every Greenwich school.
