Information about Free School Meals for KS2 pupils (Mayor’s funding)
All Key Stage 2 children in state-funded primary schools will continue to get free school meals for the next four years. The Mayor of London has extended the funding to help build a better and fairer London for everyone.
There has been an increase in the meal price for 2024/25. The meal price has increased from £2.65 per meal to £3 per meal.
The funding allocation has been based using the GLA’s funding calculation and is based upon an assumed 90% uptake. The funding is based upon the January 2024 school census. Schools will have the opportunity to secure additional funding in the summer term if they are able to evidence that uptake of the scheme has been higher than 90%.
Payments:
There will be three payments made to each school for Mayors KS2 meals.
50% in October 2024
25% in January 2025
25% in May 2025 made after the required data submission
Data:
All schools will be required to submit data in March 2025 to evidence percentage uptake of KS2 meals. Those who achieve higher than 90% uptake will be supported by the borough to secure additional funding from the Mayor.
The final 25% payment in May 2025 and will be subject to the required data being submitted.
